Lay out all of your pieces on your workspace.  Use the sand paper to gently sand any rough edges if needed.

Select your circle backer pieces and the circle flower middles, the white paint, and a sponge.

Dip your sponge into the paint and gently wipe off on the side.  I like to pinch the sides of the sponge to make a smaller surface.  If you are having a hard time getting your paint out of the little cup, you can use the paint scooper to scoop some out onto the pallet.

Gently sponge the color onto all of the circle pieces and set them aside to dry.

Move to the flower next and paint it purple following the same process as the circles.  Use the paper towels to wipe off the paint scooper in between colors.

Paint the remainder of the pieces and set them aside to dry.

While pieces are drying, assemble your tube of glue.  Gently unscrew the tip and cap and remove the small green circle piece of plastic.  Re-screw the tip and cap (attached) back together until it punctures the foil covering on the tube.

Lay out the pieces to glue together.  Prior to gluing, ensure that paint has completely dried and is no longer shiny.  Place small dots (about the size of the tip of the glue) along each piece to attach.  Large glue dots/globs do not dry well.  When dots of glue have been placed on a piece, place piece where it goes and hold in place for 15-30 seconds with pressure to help glue adhere well.

When all pieces are dry and glued in place, lay pieces out in order.

Remove paper piece from the string and find the end.  Take blue piece of tape and wrap tightly around one end to make a “needle” to help string move through holes.

Move in the same direction when stringing pieces.  I usually move from left to right.  You will always insert the string from front to back for the first hole on a piece and back to front for the second piece regardless of which direction you add them.

When you add a piece, insert from front to back in the first hole and pull the string until the piece is approximately where you want it (the first piece should usually be around 3 feet from the end of the string).  Once it is in place, insert the string into the second hole from the back to front.  Then move to the next piece.

When you are complete, double check to make sure that all of the pieces are in the correct order.

You can hang the garland in a variety of ways.  On a mantle, you can set something heavy on either end.  I find this to be helpful when I am getting everything centered.

To hang from hooks, I make a slip knit by folding the string over itself to make a small loop and then loop it around your fingers and pull through.  This allows you to pull it free when you are finished or move the knot.

Then enjoy your garland!  Take pictures and share!
